I’m a City Boy, What Was I Thinking?

Once in my adult life, I decided to move out into the country. “Once.” The thought of fresh vegetables, and a slower pace of life sounded great to me. However, there were some things, someone forgot to tell this city boy.

Actually, there were a lot of things someone forgot to tell me about country life. Safe to say I only have room in Medium to discuss just a couple of ways the country life tried to injure me.

2 — Ways Country Life Tried to Injure Me.

#1. Sure, I will feed your horse while you are gone.

My neighbor down the road, asked me if I would feed his horse while he was gone for a few of days. Sure neighbor, I will be glad to do that. In the country if someone asks you for help, it is an unwritten rule, you have to help. You never know when you will need their help, or some piece of farm equipment. Sounds reasonable.

What my neighbor forgot to tell me was, this horse was huge. Take a wild guess what time of the day he told me to feed the horse? Wrong answer unless you said “Midnight”. Guess what the name of the horse was? I was…
