The question posed gave me some grief, and it took me some soul-searching to find the answer.

The Back Story

I was raised by my grandfather during the summers when I was a kid. He was my dad’s Dad. he was also a preacher. Being a preacher and my grandfather was an invaluable resource and a great source of comfort when my dad passed away.

He also loved me because I was my grandfather’s namesake. He was AL I and I was AL II.

I had nothing but pure love for my grandfather and preachers in general. I remember once as a young adult my church conducted a vote to cast out the preacher — my grandfather.

I lead the bandwagon of, “Our preacher is a man of God, and God had a reason to send him to us. I vote NO on any vote to cast him out of this church.”

The yea’s won that day

I decided to change churches that same day before someone tried to cast me out too. I was raised to trust and respect the preacher. After all, everyone seemed to trust and respect my grandfather when I was young.
