My Mom was was feeble, old, and her memory was not the best.

She would cook something for us, to the best of her ability.

My thoughts were to make her happy, even just for a second. Even if I had to lie. Mom that was delicious, thanks I am glad you enjoyed it.

Mr. X - , it is better to tell her the truth, it will hurt at first, but she will change her cooking style.

I could not do that to her. I could not hurt her, by telling her the truth.

Did I eat, (taste) some food I did not like? Yes I did, and I am good with that.

I guess, it is just a matter of perspective.
