Quick Introduction

I would just like to give you a quick introduction to the poem that will follow.

Growing up as a little boy in Northwest Louisiana, there was no better place to spend my summers, than at Grandmothers house. So many things to do, and yes without any social media, and certainly no electronics of any kind,

But we did not need all that, we had everything from go-karts to bicycles, to climbing trees, to hunting and fishing. We also had the advice of our Grandfather Preacher, who gave us great advice on the loss of our Dad, my Grandfather’s only son.

However, the one person who held it all together, the one person who did all the cooking and cleaning, the one person who took all our sadness and fears away, and made my childhood a great childhood of happiness and love, was our most beloved Grandmother. We miss you Mamaw.

Grandmother’s House
I can smell her cooking from here.

When I was little
I could always tell
Where I was at
By, that unique smell.

From my grandmother’s house
And the pies she baked
I could smell them through the house
As I would awake.
