When the Movies Come To Life
Back when I was in college, the #1 movie back then was “Smokey and the Bandit” In my house today, it is still one of my all-time favorite movies. The list of actors was so impressive: Burt Reynolds, Sally Field, Jerry Reid, even Football Legend Terry Bradshaw, just to name a few, were in the movie.
However, the real star of the movie was a 1977 black and gold, Pontiac Trans Am. Being a car guy, I was in Heaven.
It was during this time while in college, I also worked at my uncle’s gas station. This was an old school gas station where there was coke-machine out front, we pump the gas for you, and check your tires, oil and water. It was here, I made up the phrase, when asked where do I work? My go to answer was, “I am in the oil and gas business.”
My Uncles Side Hustle
My Uncle also rented big moving trucks and trailers. Occasionally he would run low on his inventory and ask me to take his 1968, four-door, suicide doors Lincoln Continental, and drive 70 miles west on interstate to my hometown and bring back some large moving trucks. I would also need to take five friends with me.
Five friends would drive the trucks back, and I would drive the Lincoln back. (Like I…
