I agree with you on the choices of words, that sould never be used. I live in the south, so I have heard so many words, and sayings it is just a part of our language and culture... However some words and sayings I dislike include:
1) literally. For starters it is literally overused.
2) Aa sentence that starts with: To be honest, .....
So all the other times, you are lying to me?
3) Piggyback. As in I would like to piggyback as to what Joe just said. eeegads this is like fingernails on a chalkboard to me.
I am not a spelling or grammer expert, however there are words and phrases, that get to me as well.
Again, I am from the south so words (?) like: wantcha, are very common. Instead of, :
Will you pass me the salt? is prononced,
Wantcha pass me the salt? instead.
Great article, I enjoyed it.
PS: Look up Cajun Night Before Christmas, lol
I am in Louisiana, and I can't ead it, lol
