I Got Into Trouble For Speaking to My Down’s Syndrome Daughter
Wait, What? There has to be more to this story
In my last job life, I taught in several different schools throughout the year. One of those was where my daughter went to school. It was a middle school that had an excellent classroom for special needs children. My daughter was also fortunate to have an excellent teacher who cared for all her students.
That was until my daughter got a new teacher about mid-way through the year. I am not exactly sure what happened to her regular teacher, but safe to say, she had moved on. A new teacher was to take her place.
The New Teacher
After about two weeks of this new teacher, she could not understand why I had free reign of where and when I went into the various classrooms. It was just a part of my job; I had that authority at all of my schools. It was just second nature to me, and no one had ever questioned it.
The principal explained that I was just doing my job, and I had permission from the Principal and the authority from the School Board. I thought the matter was over, but I was wrong.
The teacher went on to say, how I was undermining what she was teaching the students. What? That does not even make sense.
