I really enjoyed your account of India I visited the Philippines a few years back, and got to witness a whole new world. I loved it. My wife, Wifey-Wire is from the Philippines. First the Tuck Tucks, This made me smile. In the PI they call then Tricycles. However, I called them Ding Dings, as that is the sound their little motors make. Cows on the road. Mostly I sat in the front seat of the Ding Ding, with my hands over my eyes. No way could I drive in the PI. We once went around a traffic round about... Just as I opened my ryrs, there was an elderly man walking a cow counter clockwise, directly towards us... My hands went back over my eyes. lol/// The motorcycle, and an entire family on the motorcycle.
We began playing our own version of The License Plate game. The rules were simple, count ow many people are on a motorcycle. High People count wins. lol
The High count was: 1 small baby sitting on the handle bars, facing forward. I small child sitting on the gas tank, Then the Dad driving, 1 Child hanging onto Dad, for dear life. And the Mom on the very back with a baby on her chest in some kind of back pack and the small child in the back pack, and finally a small child hanging on to Norm's back. I think that was our high count, if my memory is correct.
I saw a regular motorcycle with a home-made side car, cage looking design, with a pig in it. That caught my attention. And any kind of a traffic signal was a suggestion only, Sorry this was so long, but you triggered so much memory, lol.
I enjoyed your post.
PS Does India, have the Jeepneys, a cross between a school bus and a very long Jeep. lol
