My Journey, My first steps
What does the Chinese proverb by Lao Tzu say, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.” This has been so true with my medical condition, which I have been quiet about for about a year now. I have only made baby steps in the fight I have towards winning this battle over prostate cancer.
I want to apologize early for any words or descriptions I may use in describing my illness. If you can get passed words like blood, prostrate, biopsy, breast cancer, I think that is all, then we will be just fine.
Where did my journey begin?
My journey actually began some 16 yeas before I ever heard the term, Prostate Cancer. As it turned out, my Mom had breast cancer, and it was discovered approximately 16 years ago. She was in a hospital having a myriad of test run on her. It was a Sunday I will never forget, as I went to the hospital to check on my Mom.
This was a Sunday afternoon, and I was thinking this should be a quiet peaceful day for my Mom, so I will go visit her. It was also a workday for me, and I called my boss to advise her of my plans. The boss said, “no worries, I am taking you off the regular schedule, and putting you on a Special Assignment, Call me if you need…
