My First, Worst, Side Hustle Ever
I just thought I wanted to be a photographer
In my previous work life, using a camera at work was a must. Knowing how to properly use a camera was absolutely essential. This was not only a huge part of my job but quickly became a hobby of mine. Being a car guy, me and my camera would go to any car show, car meet, or car race anywhere.
All that being said, I am nowhere an expert on using cameras. It has been a few years now since I retired from that job, which required using a camera. The big fancy cameras I used to use are now reduced down to my cell phone camera. However, I am good with that. Cell phones take great pictures.
The worst job I agreed to take
One of my good friends was soon to be married. Being a good friend, he knew I used cameras nearly every day, and he asked me to take pictures at his wedding. After a little bit of haggling on a price for my time, we agreed to a whopping price of zero.
Agreeing on a price of zero was harder than it sounded. This was my first “gig” and there was still a huge learning curve for me to learn. However, my friend kept throwing out a pretty decent number for me to take. I believe we finally agreed on a payment of him buying the film and me taking no pictures at the bachelor party.
