My Two-Sided Crew
The lucky side and the not-so-lucky side
The one side of the crew
When I was in high school and college, we had quite the crew and it was divided in half. In the first half, we had the doctor's son, who had everything. Two sons of two very prominent businessmen, who had some cool cars, and toys. Then there was the one guy whose dad was doing well, but no one dared to ask what his dad did. We seriously did not want to know.
The other side of the crew
There was me, who drove a 1968 Javelin if that tells you anything? There was Dan, whose parents did ok, and my best friend Rick. We were pretty much in the same boat. None of us had a swimming pool, motor homes, vacation homes, brand new cars, or private planes like the other half of the crew did.
I tell you all of that so you have a better understanding of our day at the lake.
Our half of the crew met at the lake
Dan’s dad had a boat. I guess you could call it that. It was a long, skinny fishing boat from back in the day. It seated three people, one behind the other, and you steered from the front seat. However, overall, it was an old boat by any standard.
