Back in my teenage years, I attended a wonderful church youth group. We were not the biggest church, nor the wealthiest church by any stretch. However, we had the best youth group anywhere.

We had a proper gymnasium with a very large score board, and buzzer hanging on the wall. Which had such a loud and annoying buzzer sound, and I loved it. My first job ever was working in that gym. We had inter-church league basketball games, boys and girls. I got to run the scoreboard at 15 years of age for the basketball games. It was so much fun.

Once there was a substitute made during a girls’ basketball game once. I had to ask the girl her number so it could be recorded, that player #11 replaced player #8. Something like that.

This particular girl was wearing a light windbreaker, but I had to ask. Hey, what is your number? She started out with 555-_ _ _ , she was giving me her home phone number. I told her, no, no, no…I mean your jersey number, she laughed, and said, #7, but you can call anytime as she ran on to the court. To this day, I wish I had gotten that last number to her phone number.

The gym would also be transformed into a skating rink, or a volley-ball court. There was a…
