This is an excellent article, I loved it. I have nothing to compare to your story except, after my Dad died, we were very careful of our Momey.

Mom had to stretch every dollar. We never went without. However we never had the best of the best either.

I never let our money situation bring me down, instead I wored ever job I could since I was 14. (Not to brag, just a fact)

I went to a very "Upscale" private school my Senior year. I drove the oldest car in the parking lot, and never once, did anyone make fun of meor my car, or my clothes. We did not wear uniforms by the way. Kids can be hard on kids.

I will never forget my Mom's advice on anything new I tried to achieve, "Go in there like you own the place" I have used that nugget of advice all my life, and it works.

Ok, you will see of this in my next article soon, lol

Great article Nancy

It made me do some real soul searching.

PS: I can certainly see how your story must have been a hard one, coming to America, during that ime period. By all accounts, of what I know, it looks like it did not slow you down, one little bit.

AL.
