My career began in 1982,

The academy taught me,

Everything I should do.

I felt confident, as my career did begin.

There is much more to learn,

“I’ll tell you this my young friend.”

This Giant became so much to me,

But I was too blind, and too new to see.

He would become my mentor, to guide and teach me.

Over the years, our paths did cross.

Many of times, a life-line he would toss.

I once got out, as I pulled over a car.

To my surprise, my Giant was not far.

I could recognize my Giant, as he was a MARINE.

With a kind heart, and and he took me under his wing.

In our department, different paths did we take.

I met many more Giants, and more friends did I make.

The new Giants I met, they all taught me the ropes.

They taught me of the past, and all of their hopes, and not to forget, they told me their jokes. .
