What Father’s Day Means to me

This is an article written about what Father’s Day means to me. It also covers three generations, as portrayed in this picture. A son, his dad, and a grand-dad. There is also a Mom and a little daughter in the picture as well.

A Prompt and a Father’s Day Wish

First, I would like to thank Nancy Blackman for her prompt and her Father’s Day wish to all the Fathers. As a Dad myself, Thank You Nancy Blackman.

Father’s Day, as a Son

Father’s Day to me has many different emotions, and memories. As mentioned above I have been all three. I have been 1) A son, 2)A step-son, 3) A grandson, and 4) Absolutely my favorite, a Dad.

I was a son to the Greatest Father alive. (And I know we all say that.) My Dad worked for the newspapers, and was the OG, wireeditornewman. A moniker I use today, and I am so proud to use as a reminder of my Dad.

I went to the same college as my Dad, and took Journalism classes as he did, and walking down some of the same hallowed halls as he did. Unfortunately, he never saw me through any of this as he had passed away, years before I ever enrolled in college.

I have since been back to his college to stop, and reflect on a brick sidewalk, which one of the bricks had his name on it.

His memory alone, and him being with me in Spirit, is reason enough for me, to believe he was the best Father ever. PS: He was a car guy too, as…
