What Trophies Meant To Me…

Not to sound selfish, but they meant a lot. Let me explain.

Before my dad passed away, at my young age of nine. I received very few Awards and certainly no trophies, and definitely no Participation Points.. The closest I came to an award was when my Dad was my cub scout leader. Dad would give us Cub Scouts small assignments and then congratulate us as we completed those assignments. I remember one in particular, where we distributed Boy Scout paper sacks all over our community.

In reality, it was probably only three or four blocks.

After it was all over Dad loaded us Cub Scouts in his 57 Chevy and took us all out to the ice cream parlor for a banana split.

that might as well have been a gold medal, earned in the Olympics.

I don’t remember winning any other Trophy or praise before my dad passed away.

I’m sure there were many at-ta-boys my dad gave me for working around the house and on the rare occasion making good grades in school.

However, the best trophy and last Trophy, I ever got from my dad was on that fateful day when the ambulance came to pick Dad up from the house. As the stretcher past me, in the hall,
