Reading new stories in my account today, I saw one new article which caught my attention. Nancy Blackman’s new article titled,
Who or What Has Taught You Lessons of Love, Grace, and Mercy?

This prompt got me thinking, as all of Nancy Blackmans prompts seem to do. However, I knew when I read this title that it was going to be an easy answer for me. I grew up with parents who were in church every time the doors were open, and my granddad was a Baptist preacher in northwest Louisiana.

All the above taught me about love, grace, and mercy in their own way.

Love

Without a doubt, my mother taught me all about love. Some of her favorite sayings were, 1) love your neighbors, 2) love your enemies, and 3) many sayings on forgiveness. She also taught us about “tough love.”

She did discipline us and I am good with that. One of her favorite ways to discipline us, when the siblings fought, was to, make us hug that sibling and kiss them on the cheek, and say, “I love you.” There was no fighting after that.

Through her love and discipline, we are as close as any three siblings can be. The saying back in the day, was, “If you mess with one of them, be ready to mess will all three of them.”
