The Doctor Ordered a Bone Scan
How hard can this be?
My last article, I’m W.E. Newman and I have Prostrate Cancer, was my way of letting my readers know what is going on medically in my life. My thinking was inspired by my readers. This article and others to follow will hopefully help someone else with a similar illness. So here goes.
Doctor’s orders
One of my doctors thought it would be a great idea for me to have a bone scan to see if cancer has gotten into my bones. That seemed simple enough, sure let’s do it. About a day later I get an official letter in the mail explaining all the important details of where, when, what time, and what to drink or not to drink, before the bone scan.
The bone scan appointment was at 12:00 noon
This was a very easy and organized appointment. So far so good. I met a nurse and she talked me through the process. The first stop was to get an IV and then allow the IV liquid to be in your body for 2 and a half hours.
The IV went in and I did not feel anything except the alcohol swab. I want this nurse to give me all my IVs from here on out. “That’s it, Mr. Newman, I will see you in three hours.” What about the 2.5 hours? “Well, about that, let’s just make it 3:00 pm. Ok?”
